Home to many Ethiopian, Arab and low income families things are being changed for the better. Disused public buildings have been rebuilt for communal use, a pre-army facility and daycare centers have been established, as well as the revitalizing of poor areas. New areas are under construction attracting young, mainly religious, families into the town.

the migrating birds. At the Hula nature reserve they saw cranes, pelicans and flamingos as well as catfish and turtles in the lake. They also visited Metulla, two observation points, several memorials and other historical places. Two nights were spent at the very comfortable guesthouse at Kibbutz Hagoshrin.

With another Kindertransport boy, Paul was adopted by a Pastor and his wife and spent five happy years in the east of England. The boys were treated with great kindness and respect for their religion. In 1949 Paul was reunited with his parents in Israel.
